It's what every Twitter user has been waiting for. Twitter has finally delivered on its promise that photos and links won't be counted along the 140-character limit.
The official Twitter page had the following to say regarding the feature:
"Say more about what's happening! Rolling out now: photos, videos, GIFs, polls, and Quote Tweets no longer count toward your 140 characters." (View the embedded tweet and video below)

This comes as a welcome news for Twitter fans as the change will allow them to compose longer tweets. Till now, attaching links and photos currently struck out 23 and 24 characters respectively off a tweet's character count which often requires thinking in unconventional ways to convey what you mean in your tweet.

The change looks more tuned in comparison to earlier reports by Twitter to increase the 140-character limit to 10,000. Twitter is <a href="http://www.mid-day.com/articles/twitter-to-stop-counting-photos-links-in-140-character-limit/17246183" target="_blank">hoping that it will make the service more approachable to users</a>.
