Author and journalist Sudha Menon is holding a day-long workshop in the city on the subject of writing. If your writing experience often ends with hours of staring at a blank page or computer screen, Sudha will catalyse the process of bringing out your deepest thoughts and getting them on paper in a clear, lucid manner. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2012/oct/Sudha_1.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 685px; " /> Author Sudha Menon The workshop will focus on getting you started with a series of writing exercises interspersed with interactive sessions about the things that make great stories, techniques as well as the do&rsquo;s and dont&rsquo;s of writing.u00a0&ldquo;I always aspired to write a book but never knew how to get started. Then during my visit to the US I attended a writing workshop and got some great ideas. After writing my first book in 2010, titled Leading Ladies: Women Who Inspire India, I got calls from people asking me to read their writings. That&rsquo;s how I got the idea of conducting the workshop, so that I can help people write better,&rdquo; said Menon. u00a0She adds that people often get demoralised thinking that no one will be interested in their writing. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2012/oct/pen.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 333px; " /> &ldquo;But it&rsquo;s not the truth. If we have a great story in mind and it comes out well on paper, everyone will read it and will appreciate it,&rdquo; added Menon.u00a0During the session, the author will also give tips on how to sell your writing and offer pointers on getting your work published. Some of the tips Menon has for aspiring writers is to write on a subject of their choice without stopping to think or editing it themselves, writing everyday &mdash; even if it is only for half an hour &mdash; writing with a group of people who also love to write and to get out of their homes and experience life. She believes that the most colourful, authentic writing comes from living a life full of experiences of different kinds. u00a0&ldquo;I am getting a good response from people. I hope everyone, ranging from IT professionals to housewives are a part of this workshop,&rdquo; concluded Menon.
