He's known him for two years now and says he will be perfect. A couple of months later, my brother and that friend came to India. I was shocked to see what a nice guy he is! Not only is he good-looking, but also very charming and erudite. He loves books and animals, just like I do. He stayed only for two days, but we spent a lot of that time talking and really hit it off. I know he was only probably being friendly and polite to his friend's sister but I really would like to know him better. I am too embarrassed to tell my brother this, especially since I had yelled at him for matchmaking. What do I do now? Deepa Dear Deepa, You are being silly. Cast aside these silly notions and just tell your brother straight that you liked his friend and he might be someone you are interested in. Why give up a guy who could probably be your dream guy just because you don't want to admit your mistake? And he is your brother. He loves you and wants the best for you. He may tease you but that's not so bad as losing out on your potential dream guy. Ask him to find out (directly or indirectly) if his friend is interested in you too. After all, he was willing to do it before. Or if you wish to take it slow, you could search for your guy on a social networking site and send a friend request. If he accepts, great. You are one step closer to your aim of knowing him better. If he doesn't, well you know where you stand. Exams or girlfriend? Dear Diana, I am studying for my engineering exams and can't spend time with my girlfriend. But she doesn't understand that. She constantly complains that I don't answer her calls or messages. How do I make her understand? Sunil Dear Sunil, Your exams will probably make or break your future career. If she isn't even trying to understand that, then she is just not worth your time. You should be able to count on your partner to stand by you during stressful times. If she can't do it, then it is time to move on. Younger sister giving me hell! Dear Diana, I am 17 and I have a sister who is four years younger than me. She is always borrowing my things and losing them. She opens my make up case when I am not at home and messes around with it. Last week, she messed up a project I had done for my college. I have told my parents, but they say as the elder one, it is my duty to forgive her. But doesn't she as the younger one also have some sense of responsibility? I love her a lot, but she irritates me too. Padma Dear Padma, Yes, she needs to learn to take responsibility for her actions. Your parents do need to be a bit firm with her, but you need to understand too. When she does this do you shout at her? Is that the only things you two talk about? You say you love her, but have you told her that? It sure seems like she is seeking your attention. Maybe now that you've entered college, you are wrapped up in your world and taking her for granted? She's just growing up and is curious about the world you are moving in. She probably wants someone to talk to. Try talking to her about her life, her school, her friends, go watch a movie with her at least once a month. I am sure she will mend her ways slowly. But be firm when she does mess with your things.
