For the onlookers, a second marriage might seem like a clean slate, but it is rarely ever the case. Other than shared history, there are several ties between the couple in a marriage that ended: children, social circles, financial commitments, and, in many cases, relatives from the first marriage.

As remarriage becomes less of a taboo, Indian matchmaking app Rebounce, surveyed over 9,000 previously married singles to understand the burdens these users quietly carry.

The app's founder and CEO, Ravi Mittal, commented, "Understanding the hidden challenges of previously married singles, the weight they shoulder, helps us create a better space and cater to them in a way mainstream dating platforms don't. From our studies, we have noticed that the challenge for these singles isn't just finding the right partner, but also handling so many hidden nuances. Creating an emotional and practical space for the new relationship, for the new marriage to become its own family, is one of those."
