Drumroll, Please!

Yami Gautam Dhar has her band baaja moment at a trailer launch in Wadala on Wednesday

The Last Pour

Wednesday brought with it an emotional video from Karan Johar announcing that Koffee with Karan is taking its final bow with Season 9 — capping off 22 years and 161 episodes of unfiltered gossip. But while timelines are flooded with predictable pleas for a solo Shah Rukh Khan sign-off, the ultimate exit coup wouldn’t be a repeat guest. It would be Rekha: the singular screen enigma who has spent over two decades stubbornly refusing to barter her mystique for a rapid-fire hamper.

Guests aside, the real, unsung witnesses of the madness were always the couches themselves. Carefully designed as ergonomic truth serums to coax loose-lipped candour out of guarded stars, they quietly claim their own afterlife once the soundstage goes dark. Retired into studio warehouses or discreetly reupholstered for Dharma film sets and executive lounges, these sofas have absorbed enough nervous sweat and career-altering slip-ups to demand non-disclosure agreements of their own. Forget auctioning jewelled timepieces — it’s those velvet settees that truly belong under the hammer.

Magnet-Ficent Obsession

For seasoned globetrotters, the world might be an oyster, but for singer Penaz Masani, it’s clearly an oversized metal door waiting to be covered. Penaz recently revealed her truly “magnetficant” obsession, turning her refrigerator into a miniature, quirky atlas. A quick glance reveals a veritable carnival: a handful of dramatic masks, at least two tiny cows, an Istanbul keepsake, the Swiss flag, and Santa Claus thrown in for good measure. At this dizzying rate of stamp-and-stick wanderlust, she has only two realistic choices left — either tuck her passport into deep storage, or go appliance shopping for a substantially larger fridge.

Of course, she isn’t the only one stuck on this travel ritual. Down south, Toxic star Yash’s wife, Radhika Pandit, is an avid collector herself, though her curation leans decidedly tamer and more postcard-pretty than Penaz’s delightfully chaotic menagerie. Meanwhile, over in sunny Goa, Sameera Reddy’s laid-back kitchen boasts its own magnetic charm, complete with a heartwarming, hand-painted souvenir featuring her two kids.
While some folks prefer blue-chip art or precious antiques, others catalogue the world in quirky resin and painted ceramic. And for those who do, it comes down to one simple, magnetic truth: the sweetest memories always cling to where the late-night cravings live.

Belle of the ball

It’s not too early to look ahead to November, when the by-invite-only Le Bal will officially introduce a new crop of twenty-odd global debutantes to Parisan high society. Carrying the tricolour this year as India’s solo representative is Syra Kanwar — Barnard undergraduate and heiress to the Apollo Tyres empire. Syra follows in the shimmering footsteps of Ella Wadia; Celina and Jeh Wadia’s expectedly exquisite daughter, who captivated the ballroom in 2025.

She also joins an elite roster of Indian girls who have famously waltzed across the Shangri-La’s gilded floors. There are the Panday sisters, Ananya and Rysa, who each brought their distinct brand of Mumbai glamour to the French capital years apart. And, of course, Isha Ambani, whose early couture debut set the gold standard for high-society Indian scions making their international social bow. Predecessors aside, soon enough the floor will belong entirely to Neeraj and Simran Kanwar’s darling daughter — swept up in custom Georges Hobeika couture.

Haute Habitat

For those who have long treated Rajesh Pratap Singh’s pin-tucked shirts and razor-sharp tailoring like armour, the natural next step was always domestic annexation. Because why merely wear the aesthetic when you can make your living room submit to it?

This month, the maestro of monastic precision debuts Pratap Home at his Kala Ghoda flagship. If you thought this was just another fashion designer slapping a monogram onto a velvet throw, think again. Pratap’s spatial fluency is an established fact, not an afterthought.
Only last year he bagged a prestigious design award for a suite of exquisite tiles, and his architectural fingerprints linger everywhere from the moodily theatrical Sathyam Cinemas multiplex in Chennai to that unforgettable, sculptural wall installation at Chef Marut Sikka’s Kainoosh in New Delhi. And let’s not forget his denim-forward home linen collaboration with a popular lifestyle store, which proved indigo could be both rugged and remarkably bougie.
With Pratap Home, the craft turns architectural. Think hand-quilted, block-printed bed and table linen mirrored in loungewear cut from the exact same cloth, grounded by hand-knotted rugs and embroidered sheers. Custom lighting, scented candles, and signature tiles complete the picture — this isn’t mere decor, it’s a fully articulated design language.
Those who know Pratap know he doesn’t do frivolity, and he certainly doesn’t do clutter. If your living space has been begging for an uncompromising masterclass in texture, quiet intellect, and tactile restraint, your October calendar just found its highlight.
