As tourists make their way to Goa to enjoy the monsoon season after the sweltering summer, The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has introduced the white water rafting experience, one of quite a few activities for adventure seekers in the sunshine state.
The new activity is under Goa Tourism's flagship initiative "Goa Beyond Beaches" is especially for tourists Looking to escape the routine visit, and add a bit of thrill to their visit.
The experience is being hosted in collaboration with Southern River Adventures and Sports Pvt. Ltd. at the Mhadei River in Valpoi, as it aims to draw thousands of nature and thrill enthusiasts to Goa’s lush greenery and rain-fed waterways.
Set in the picturesque Sattari Taluka, the Mhadei River transforms into a roaring spectacle during the monsoon, creating the perfect setting for rafting. The 10-kilometre route features Grade II to III+ rapids—striking the ideal balance between challenge and charm.
Tourists will be able to navigate through forested valleys, rolling hills, and rain-soaked wilderness, and witness a side of Goa that’s wild, unspoiled, and exhilaratingly scenic.
The experience is designed for everyone that not only includes seasoned adventurers but also first-timers and families.
While many may have their doubts, every trip will be conducted under the supervision of certified guides, with thorough safety briefings and complete gear, including life jackets, helmets, and paddles. The rafts accommodate eight to 10 participants, and the full journey lasts about 90 minutes.
