<h2>A kingdom on edge</h2>
The first two seasons have felt like a slow and deliberate march towards an inevitable civil war. We have watched alliances fracture, families turn against one another and every major figure manoeuvre for power.

New dragon riders have emerged, allegiances continue to shift, Aegon has been left severely weakened, and Aemond has grown into one of the story&rsquo;s most formidable and unpredictable forces. I am looking forward to the Battle of the Gullet, what role Alicent plays following the fall of King&rsquo;s Landing, and how Rhaenyra navigates the mounting pressures within her own camp.&nbsp;

<h2>Let the war begin</h2>
Season 3 finally feels like the point where all the pieces are set and the real war can begin. While I felt Season 2 suffered from being shortened from 10 episodes to eight, particularly in terms of pacing, the story remains deeply engaging. Ryan Condal has already hinted that the Battle of the Gullet could be one of the most ambitious episodes ever produced for television, and the trailers suggest the scale of the dragon warfare will be extraordinary.

I am particularly looking forward to seeing Rhaenyra fight to reclaim what was taken from her, Alicent grappling with the consequences of losing control over her sons, and Daemon returning to the heart of the action after his unsettling time at Harrenhal. With major battles, political betrayals and long-awaited dragon confrontations ahead, this feels like the season in which everything truly ignites.

<h2>Moment of truth</h2>
Unlike Game of Thrones in its later years, this story still has source material to draw upon. That gives me hope that the narrative can build towards a more coherent and rewarding conclusion. I am also intrigued by how the series will develop the changes it has already made to the original text.

Several characters and plotlines have been reinterpreted, and I am keen to see how those creative choices shape the story moving forward. The rivalry I am most looking forward to is the one between Daemon and Aemond, which has been simmering for some time and promises to deliver some of the season&rsquo;s defining moments.
