I couldn’t quite empathise as much as I could sympathise with Riz Ahmed’s character in Sound of Metal, a poignant movie recently launched on a streaming platform. That’s because I haven’t lost my sense of hearing like he did, robbing him off his livelihood since he is a drummer in a metal band. Yet, he faced up to adversity like a child who stands up against the school bully, and that’s something I learnt from regardless of my privileged position.
