The Karnataka court on Friday ordered Bengaluru police to give the custody of gangster Ravi Pujari to Mumbai Crime Branch. In the next two to three days, a team of crime branch officials will take Pujari into custody. The crime branch had sought the gangster's custody in connection with the firing incident that took place at Vile Parle's Gajalee restaurant.
In October 2016, a man fired at the counter of Gajalee restaurant in Vile Parle and threatened the hotel manager to call Pujari and talk to him in order to save his life. During the investigation of the case, the Anti-extortion Cell (AEC) arrested seven accused and Pujari was a wanted accused.

In February 2020, Indian agencies brought Pujari to the country from Senegal in South Africa and gave its custody to Bengaluru Police. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Crime Branch also sought the gangster's custody from the Karnataka court.
Speaking to mid-day a crime branch official said, "The entire process of taking Ravi Pujari's custody has been completed. Soon the Anti-extortion Cell (AEC) will bring Pujari to Mumbai and take further action."
"A team of senior police inspector Sachin Kadam of AEC will soon go to Karnataka to take custody of Ravi Pujari," added the official.
Milind Bharambe, Joint CP (Crime) said, "We succeeded in getting extradition of Gangster Ravi Pujari in Gajalee restaurant firing case of 2016."
