Acting on a tip-off, the Mira Road police in Thane district of Maharashtra raided a spa centre at a shopping centre in Mira Road (East), and busted an alleged prostitution racket being run under the guise of massage services.
Police received confidential information that women, vulnerable due to financial distress, were being forced into prostitution at Sun Spa Centre.
A joint team was formed under the guidance of DCP Rahul Chavan (Zone 1), ACP Ganpat Pingle (Mira Road Division), and Senior PI Meghna Burande (Mira Road Police Station).
After completing legal formalities, the raid confirmed the alleged exploitation of women.
An FIR was registered at Mira Road Police Station against three accused -- Aladdin alias Alam Hamid Shaikh (35), Swapnil Arun Kharat (27, Manager), and Yogesh Ganesh Rawal (26, Staff) -- under relevant sections of the IPC and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
The investigation is being carried out by Police Inspector (Crime) Sayyad Jilani, under the supervision of senior officials, following directives from Commissioner of Police Niket Kaushik and Additional CP Dattatray Shinde.
