The Rabale MIDC Police in Navi Mumbai city of Maharashtra raided a residence in Digha’s Ishwar Nagar and seized 252 grams of MD (Mephedrone) powder valued at approximately Rs 75 lakh, police said.
Based on a tip-off that a woman named Shantabai and her son-in-law were involved in the sale of illegal drugs from their residence, a team comprising three police officers and 20 male and female constables carried out a raid at 8 am on Sunday.
During the search, police discovered MD powder, a weighing scale, and 250 plastic packets -- typically used for packaging narcotics.
Four suspects were arrested in the raid and taken into custody at the Rabale MIDC Police Station. The arrested are Nilesh Basanna Naik, Shailesh Basanna Naik, Usha Roshan Naik, and Jyoti Nilesh Naik, all residents of Airoli, Navi Mumbai.
Two accused identified as Roshan Basanna Naik and Shantabai, are currently absconding.
The suspects had previously been arrested by Rabale, Rabale MIDC, and Pantnagar police stations in connection with Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act) and other cases, said an official.
