An overbearing client’s jealous interference with her life led to a bar girl plotting his murder, resulting in a brutal knife attack on him in Borivali. The victim sustained serious injuries in the assault, and the Borivali police have arrested the bar girl, Rita, while a manhunt is on to nab the other accused involved in the attack.
According to police sources, the accused and victim were close acquaintances for several years ever since they met at the Andheri bar where Rita works.
The victim, a 44-year-old real estate businessman, was allegedly knifed in the wee hours of December 26 outside Platform No 3 at Borivali station. Police said the accused stabbed him twice in the stomach and once in his hand. Believing him to be dead, the accused fled the scene, said a police officer.
After the attack, the injured man approached the Borivli police station, following which the on-duty police officer rushed him to Shatabdi Hospital for treatment. His statement was recorded, and an attempt to murder case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
An officer said that during interrogation, it emerged that Rita was in contact with several people due to her profession, which the victim allegedly objected to. Police said that he had been pressuring her to not meet anyone else, leading to frequent disputes.
When the victim discovered that Rita had developed close relations with another man, he called the second client and asked him to stay away from Rita. The second man then informed Rita about the call, which enraged her.
Rita told her cousin brother and two others to kill him, and they stabbed him.
