In a case highlighting a recurring illegal immigration route, the Kasturba Marg police have arrested a Bangladeshi national who was deported last year but allegedly re-entered India months later with her family.

The accused, Mayana alias Nargis Vilayat Shaikh, was arrested on April 16 from the Daulat Nagar area in Dahisar East. In a striking coincidence, Assistant Police Inspector YD Inamdar of the Anti-Terrorism Cell (ATC), who had arrested and deported her last year, identified her again during the operation.
