The Vakola police arrested a 35-year-old Nigerian national for residing in India without valid documents.

The arrested individual has been identified as Ivoke Ochubuchi (35). On July 7, around 7 PM, Vakola Police were patrolling near Santacruz Railway Station when they spotted an African national loitering in the area.

A police officer said, "Sub-Inspector Arun Bandgar of Vakola Police Station stopped the man and asked for his name and address. He gave his name and admitted to being a citizen of Nigeria. When Officer Bandgar asked for his passport and visa, the man gave evasive answers. This raised suspicion, and he was brought to the police station for further questioning."

Upon investigation, a case was registered against him under Section 14(A) of the Foreigners Act and Section 12 of the Passport Act.

It was revealed from his Nigerian passport that Ochubuchi had arrived in India on a valid visa in 2023. His address in Nigeria is listed as Oak Panku, Enugu State. His Indian visa was valid from September 7, 2024, to March 6, 2025, but he did not return to Nigeria after the visa expired. Furthermore, he had made no application for a visa extension, it was found in the investigation.
