<p>The Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-college-bomb-threat-st-xaviers-college-in-mahim-receives-hoax-alert-23621186" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Mumbai Crime Branch</a> detained two men from Borivali railway station for their alleged involvement in a bomb-hurling incident outside an Ashram in West Bengal&rsquo;s Murshidabad district, ANI reported.</p>
<p>Police said the accused had allegedly fled West Bengal and travelled to Mumbai to evade arrest.</p>
<h2>Incident linked to post-election tensions</h2>
<p>According to Mumbai Crime Branch officials, the incident took place on May 14 under the jurisdiction of Berhampore Police Station in Murshidabad.</p>
<p>Police said tensions had reportedly escalated in the area following the declaration of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/west-bengal-election-results-2026-bjp-tmc-in-close-contest-as-early-trends-show-tight-race-23628729" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">West Bengal election results</a>, after which the case was registered, ANI reported.&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Two accused arrested from Borivali</h2>
<p>The detained accused have been identified as Roky Khan (24), a driver and resident of Kandi Hotel Para, and Sahadat Sarkar (35), a labourer from Gram Natun Pura.</p>
<p>After detaining the duo, Mumbai Crime Branch officials completed legal formalities and secured a two-day transit remand before initiating the process of handing them over to <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/hoax-bomb-threats-west-bengal-man-held-by-mumbai-police-for-sending-over-50-bomb-threat-emails-across-india-23619405" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">West Bengal Police</a>.</p>
<h2>Grocery shop owner filed complaint</h2>
<p>According to police officials, the case was lodged on the complaint of grocery shop owner Pashupathinath Saha, a resident of the Majiherpara Post Office area in Murshidabad district, the news agency reported.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In his complaint, he named Ali Hossain alias Laden and Hasan SK, along with three unidentified persons, as key accused in the case. Several accused are still absconding, police said.</p>
<h2>Dispute began over posters near temple</h2>
<p>Investigators said the dispute allegedly began on May 12 after unidentified persons tore down photographs displayed on an electric pole outside a Ma Durga temple near an Ashram in the Majihipara area.</p>
<p>Police said the situation escalated the following night.</p>
<h2>Socket bombs allegedly hurled outside Ashram</h2>
<p>According to investigators, on May 13, around 10:45 pm, the accused and their associates allegedly hurled socket bombs in an open field in front of the Ashram.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/two-killed-four-injured-in-explosion-at-firecracker-unit-in-palghar-23626806" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">explosions reportedly triggered panic among residents</a> and created fear in the locality, police said.</p>
<h2>Accused allegedly threatened complainant</h2>
<p>Police said the next morning, around 10:30 am on May 14, some of the accused allegedly arrived outside the complainant&rsquo;s grocery shop on motorcycles.</p>
<p>They allegedly threatened him and warned of more bomb attacks if he informed the police or pursued the matter further.</p>
<h2>Accused traced to Mumbai via Gitanjali Express</h2>
<p>After the FIR was registered on May 15, investigators launched a search operation and later found that the accused had vacated their residences and fled West Bengal.</p>
<p>Further investigation revealed they had boarded the Gitanjali Express and travelled to Mumbai in an attempt to avoid arrest.</p>
<p>The information was immediately shared with Mumbai Crime Branch officials, who launched a tracking operation and eventually detained both accused near Borivali railway station.</p>
