A 30-year-old man was brutally attacked and killed by three persons over a dispute in Maharashtra's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/thane-murder-accused-held-from-palghar-after-year-long-hunt-23617785" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane district</a>, police said on Saturday, reported PTI.
The police arrested the accused within hours of the attack that occurred in the Mharalgaon area of Kalyan taluka late on Friday night, an official said, reported PTI.
The victim, Ravindra alias Pintaya alias Dokya Yashwant Ahire, was cornered by the accused, Deepak Sukhdev Dange, Vijay Bhide and Parshuram Bhide, at the Malkhamb Compound around 9 pm, Inspector Mukesh Dhage of the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/man-stabs-cousin-to-death-in-thane-district-over-property-dispute-23487233" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Kalyan taluka</a> police station said, reported PTI.
He said that the victim had a dispute with Dange and had planned to lodge a police complaint against him.
Irked by the development, the trio intercepted Ravindra and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, repeatedly stabbing him on his stomach, head, side and face, killing him on the spot, the official said.
The accused were apprehended following a complaint lodged by the victim's brother, and a case has been registered against them under sections 103(1) (murder) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

In another case, a 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his grandmother in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-16-year-old-daughters-boyfriend-among-five-arrested-for-srpf-jawans-murder-in-nagpur-23624026" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Nagpur</a> following a dispute over money withdrawn from her bank account, a police official said on Friday, reported PTI.
Accused Raju Pramod Bagde allegedly stole his 68-year-old grandmother Indubai Kishor Chavan's ATM card on May 18 and withdrew Rs 20,000 over the next two days, which led to the elderly woman confronting him, the official said, reported PTI.
"It led to a heated argument. When Bagde returned home that evening in an intoxicated condition, another quarrel broke out on the same issue, during which he stabbed her multiple times. He tried to wipe off the bloodstains before fleeing after locking the house from outside," the official said, reported PTI.
<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-man-murdered-over-love-triangle-in-nagpur-3-arrested-minor-detained-23570471" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">The crime</a> came to light two days later when a foul smell started emanating from the house, the Pachpaoli police station official added.
Bagde was held from Kalmeshwar area soon after, the official said.
