The residents of Campa Cola Housing Society got a rude shock on Wednesday when three men, claiming to be police officials, decided to drop early in the morning.

Residents claim that the cops wanted to pressurise them to vacate the flats and not oppose the demolition work. Others believe that they had come to arrest the core committee members of the society as a preventive measure.

Karan Sethia, a resident, said, &ldquo;The cops asked me about my father as he wasn&rsquo;t home and then left.&rdquo; Kiran Doshi, a resident of Mid Town apartment, said, &ldquo;Around 7.30 am, three policemen in plainclothes rang my doorbell.
I was alone at that time with my daughter. They asked about my son and husband, who are not in town. It was frightening to see them standing outside the house.&rdquo;

The incident has panicked many residents, who believe that cops are using intimidation tactics to scare them. &ldquo;We have many senior citizens staying in the compound. Till date six have lost their lives, mostly due to stress. Such incidents may cause more tragedy,&rdquo; said Sunanda Verma, a resident of Mid Town compound.
The other side After the cops left, many residents met and wrote to the Police Commissioner, Rakesh Maria, about the incident, asking the reason for taking such a step that would &lsquo;threaten law-abiding citizens in the compound&rsquo;. According to residents who met Maria, he has assured them that the incident will not be repeated again.
