Two months after Indrani Mukerjea tried to block her husband Peter from selling their flat in Worli, the housing society has replied to her legal missive by saying she has no right to make decisions about the house as it is registered in the name of her daughter, Vidhie.

mid-day had reported on March 30 that Peter was planning to sell the prime property to pay his legal bills. When Indrani learnt of this, she had her lawyer Gunjan Mangla send a three-page letter to the housing society to explain that he had no right to do so. The flat is worth Rs 15 crore to Rs 20 crore.
On January 7, 2011, Indrani and Peter had drawn up a gift deed naming Vidhie as the owner of the 3,000-sq-ft duplex. Vidhie is Indrani&rsquo;s daughter from an earlier marriage to Sanjeev Khanna (co-accused in the Sheena Bora murder case). However, the deed also stipulates that as long as Indrani is alive, she has first right on the flat.
In a letter dated May 30, the society stated that since Vidhie is the owner, Indrani can&rsquo;t decide the fate of the flat. The reply also pointed out that Indrani can take legal recourse, but unless a court order is issued, the society will proceed according to the law.
