Investigations have revealed that the four-day-old girl whose body was found in a garbage dump on Monday had been strangled to death. <img alt="Saifee hospital's name and address" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2012/dec/babys-body-1.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 366px;" /> Reports of a post-mortem performed on the infant&rsquo;s body were obtained yesterday, which confirmed that she had died due to loss of blood, after being strangled. <img alt="CCTV footage from the hospital gates" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2012/dec/babys-body.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 371px;" /> According to Bhayender police officers who are investigating the case, the baby&rsquo;s body was wrapped in a red bed sheet, and placed in a white plastic bag with the name and address of Saifee Hospital located in Charni Road. The plastic packet was then dumped in a dustbin amidst a pile of garbage. Based on the lead, the police yesterday sent a letter to the hospital authorities, asking them to provide data on all the babies that had been born in its wards over the last week. &ldquo;We have asked the hospital to provide us with CCTV footage from the hospital gates, and to also find out whether anyone left the hospital with the same bag,&rdquo; said API S Kohli from Bhayender police station. A garbage collector found the body in a bin at a dump and informed the police. Blood was found at the baby&rsquo;s mouth and nose. Based on circumstantial evidence, the police have lodged a case under Section 302 of the IPC, charging the infant&rsquo;s parents with murder. &ldquo;We suspect that the baby was born in Saifee hospital. It is also possible that the baby was born in another hospital, and the killers intentionally placed the body in a plastic bag from Saifee hospital to divert us,&rdquo; said Kohli, adding, &ldquo;We have asked the nearby hospitals to provide records of babies born there in the past week.&rdquo; Dr S J Bapai, spokesperson for Saifee hospital, said that they would provide the data to the Bhayender police. &ldquo;The Bhayender police have sent us a letter and we will cooperate with them,&rdquo; he said.u00a0
