A septuagenarian South African is the latest to succumb to swine flu.
The 77-year-old man has become the 34th victim of the viral disease in the city. Since January 19, a total of 11 Mumbaikars have lost their lives in Mumbai hospitals, while 1452 residents have been tested positive with swine flu.
The man who lost his life on March 21 was admitted in Holy Spirit Hospital on March 14. Doctors confirmed that the man suffered from multiple ailments along with swine flu including pneumonitis with septic shock, acute exacerbation of COPD and acute coronary syndrome.
11 out of 16 cases that were tested H1N1 positive on March 23 were admitted in city hospitals. Rests 5 were treated on OPD basis. All the patients including two females who have come to the city for treatment, are said to be stable.
While 11 residents of Mumbai are the part of the fatalities reported due to H1N1, 23 people who had come to the city for treatment lost their lives till date.
The trend of patients seemed to be positively on a decline since Monday&rsquo;s patient count as been the lowest since the epidemic has started in the city from January 19. The doctors finally heave a sigh of relief as the change in climate is supposedly seemed to be restricting the virus.
