Following mid-day’s report, the Versova police recorded the statement of the Abu Dhabi girl’s mother on Thursday and have now initiated an investigation into the case. According to Versova police sources, they had received a written complaint from the victim’s mother last month.

She had been called in to record her formal statement, but due to her daughter’s critical condition and ongoing treatment at SevenHills Hospital in Andheri, the mother was unable to appear in person at the time. Subsequently, police officials became occupied with security arrangements for Muharram. On Thursday, the victim’s mother finally recorded her statement at the police station.

“Since the case involves Abu Dhabi and the victim was brought back to India and admitted to Kandivli’s Shatabdi Hospital, the Kandivli police had already received the Medico-Legal Case (MLC) report,” said an officer. An official from Kandivli police had recorded the mother’s initial statement earlier. Therefore, the investigation has now been transferred to the Kandivli police. Senior officials have already spoken to the officer-in-charge and the woman officer at Kandivli police station, who recorded the victim’s mother’s statement on June 19.

“We have not yet received any official documents related to the case from the Versova police. Once they arrive, we will proceed with the investigation,” said an officer from Kandivli police station. Meanwhile, following mid-day’s coverage, several individuals have come forward to offer financial assistance to the victim. The reporter shared the mother’s contact number only after receiving her permission. She confirmed to the reporter that she has already received calls from a couple of NGOs who asked her to share details about her daughter’s treatment.
