A Mumbai sessions court today granted anticipatory bail to former actor Sahil Khan in a case of alleged cheating filed by actor Jackie Shroff's wife Ayesha Shroff. However, the prosecution termed this an absue of the legal process.

"The court has granted anticipatory bail to Khan after Ayesha submitted a copy of memorandum of understanding," said Public Prosecutor Iqbal Solkar. Ayesha's lawyer said that Khan and she had arrived at an understanding and she did not want to pursue the case. Last November, she had filed a case against Khan, her former business partner, alleging that he had cheated her of Rs 5 crore. Khan subsequently sought pre-arrest bail from the court. "I will recommend to the government to move the High Court, seeking exemplary cost on both of them for misusing the police machinery and wasting the court's time," said the prosecutor Solkar. Suburban Bandra police had also registered a case of defamation, criminal intimidation and molestation against Khan upon another complaint by Ayesha in November. This case is still pending.
