The year 2014 has not been kind to Sanjay Gandhi National Park or its inmates, with several big cat deaths being recorded, especially in the past three months.

Things don&rsquo;t seem to be getting any better either, with a young tigress in the park now reportedly feeling unwell. Beauty, a one-and-a-half-year-old tigress, was brought to SGNP earlier this month, in the hope that she would help draw more visitors for the park&rsquo;s tiger and lion safari programmes.
However, she is currently facing digestion issues and is eating far less than a tiger her age ought to, sources told this newspaper. Officials are taking this very seriously as Poman, a leopard at the park, had died just a week ago after she had stopped having her meals.
The fourth leopard and the fifth big cat in the park to pass away since October, Poman&rsquo;s death was attributed to a bacterial infection. Park officials said that Beauty&rsquo;s condition is not as grave, however, and that she is probably just finding adjusting to her new environs a little difficult.
&ldquo;She is suffering from digestion problems, but there is nothing to worry about. The climate in Nagpur, where Beauty was, and that of Mumbai is different and the sudden change may be the reason why she is unwell,&rdquo; said an official, requesting anonymity. Chief conservator of forest and field director of SGNP, Vikas Gupta was unavailable for comment despite several attempts.
