To sing is to pray twice’. The Archdiocese of Bombay has implemented the age-old saying amid the raging pandemic through a 119-track playlist for its parishioners. The songs revolve primarily around the theme of hope. The playlist, Pass on Hope, has been created by the Archdiocese’s Catholic Communication Centre (CCC), its official media and communication wing. Selected songs are the ones that were requested by people on the Archdiocese’s social media channels.
A member of the Catholic Communication Centre (CCC) said, “Considering the dark times we are facing, where hope is most needed, our team decided to brainstorm to create something that people could hold on to when distressed. The idea to collate Christian Hymns and songs that fall under the genre of Gospel music seemed perfect. We asked our followers on social media to suggest their go-to Christian numbers when in need of hope in the comments. Since this was a two-part post, a creative asking people to share their favourite tracks was shared on April 24. We put together a Spotify playlist with the requested tracks and published it on Pay it Forward on April 28. A note encouraging people to pass on the playlist to those in need of hope was put up on our social media.”
