A speeding BEST bus rammed into an autorickshaw at 10 pm yesterday near the Johnson and Johnson junction at Mulund leaving one dead and three injured.

Jayaben Karia (46), a resident of Gujarat, who was travelling in the rickshaw died on the spot.

Her sister-in-law Rukumani Thakkar (48), who was accompanying her, sustained injuries along with Tanaji More (25), theu00a0 auto driver and Dilip Wagnade, the bus driver.u00a0

Thakkar was immediately rushed to Wockhard Hospital, while the other three are undergoing treatment at Agarwal Hospital.

Said an eyewitness,u00a0 "The BEST driver was speeding and he jumped a signal ramming into the autorickshaw."u00a0
Karia's relatives said, "The news of her death has shaken the family."

The Mulund police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the BEST bus driver.
