Buses will telecast documentary on traffic diversions on immersion days that will benefit 45 lakh commuters

Want to know which routes to avoid during visarjan days? Hop on to a BEST bus.

To ensure that its regular 45 lakh bus commuters are not hassled by the traffic snarls that occur when the city bids goodbye to lord Ganesha, BEST will telecast an eight-minute documentary on traffic diversions on LCDs installed in its 1,300 buses from today.

Dilip Patel, chairman, BEST committee, said, "The traffic police have painfully chalked out graphics on road diversions on visarjan days.

Audiovisual messages have a lasting impression on people. Since the documentary will be played round-the-clock, it will make Ganpati immersion a smooth affair."

The documentary will give details on traffic diversions, no-entry roads and one-way traffic routes on the three major immersion days today, Saturday (Gauri-Ganpati visarjan) and September 3 (Anant Chaturdashi).

Added Amarjeet Singh, assistant commissioner of police (traffic),u00a0 "We want to reach the maximum number of people possible, so that they are not inconvenienced during immersion. The buses are our BEST option."

NO ENTRY

Traffic cops have barred entry on 24 roads, made 46 roads u00a0one-way, banned movement of heavy vehicles on 10 roads and issued parking restrictions on 34 roads till the festival concludes.
