Mumbai Metro Line-3, also known as the Aqua Line Metro, will operate with extended timings on Thursday, January 15, to ensure smooth travel for polling personnel and essential staff across the city.
According to the information shared by Mumbai Metro Line-3, additional train services will also be introduced on Thursday to accommodate the movement of election-related staff and voters.
Metro train services on the Aqua Line corridor will commence at 5 am and run till midnight from both Aarey JVLR and Cuffe Parade stations.
The extended operational hours are aimed at providing convenient and reliable transport throughout the day, particularly during early morning and late-night hours when polling staff commute to and from their assigned stations.
The move by Mumbai Metro Line-3 is expected to ease congestion and support the smooth conduct of polling during BMC Election 2026.
Metro Lines 2A and 7 to also run special services
Meanwhile, to facilitate voters and polling staff, Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7 will also operate special services on Thursday, 15 January, from 5:00 am till midnight, the officials said.
The extended operations aim to ensure smooth travel on polling day and encourage voter participation while supporting election-related duties across the city, they said.
Mumbai Metro Line-3 added 27 daily trips from January 5
Mumbai Metro Line-3 announced an increase in the number of daily metro train services on January 5. The increase in the number of services is a move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and easing peak-hour congestion.
As per a statement issued by MMRCMumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), the revised schedule will come into effect from 5.55 am on January 5. The inclination of metro trains from Aarey JVLR to Cuffe Parade will benefit thousands of daily commuters travelling on this route. According to the statement, additional metro services will be introduced on weekdays and Saturdays, while the existing schedule will continue unchanged on Sundays.
The decision by the authorities has been taken to accommodate rising passenger footfall and ensure smoother travel during working days.
A total of 292 daily trips from Monday to Friday, an increase of 27 trips in a day. Whereas, on Saturdays, metro services will see a rise to 236 trips per day, compared to the previous 209 trips.
However, there will be no change in Sunday operations, with 198 trips continuing as per the existing schedule.
Metro officials stated that the enhanced frequency is expected to reduce waiting time, improve connectivity, and offer a more comfortable travel experience for commuters. Passengers have been advised to take note of the revised schedule and plan their journeys accordingly.
