BMC Election 2026: Over 28,000 cops to be on streets, senior police officials will monitor security in Mumbai

According to the Mumbai Police, a strong security force will be deployed on polling day. This includes 10 Additional Commissioners of Police, 33 Deputy Commissioners of Police and 84 Assistant Commissioners of Police

Mumbai Police on Tuesday said that over 28,000 cops will be on the streets in city and senior police officials will be monitoring the polling and voting counting in the city as part of the elaborate security measures for BMC Election 2026.

Voting for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections will be held on January 15, 2026, across all 227 wards in Mumbai. The counting of votes will take place on January 16, 2026.
