It seems the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is not going to spare anyone who allows mosquito breeding in their premises. Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta has now given one month's time to 10 government agencies to clear mosquito breeding spots on their property, failing which their topmost officers will be prosecuted.

The BMC's Mosquito Abatement Committee, headed by Mehta, discussed this matter in a meeting recently. This is part of the BMC's pre-monsoon preparedness strategy since monsoon sees a spike in dengue, malaria cases.
