MiD DAY had reported how the pedestrian bridge that 400 schoolkids use to cross the 15 feet deep Kurla creek daily hangs precariously, even as BMC postponed repairs until monsoon
After MiD DAY's expose on the near-collapse bridge that is threatening the lives of 400 school children ('Is BMC waiting for kids to die?' July 29, 2011), the bridge was inspected by Ranjeet Dhakne, Ward Officer, L Ward, on Saturday, under orders from the Municipal Commissioner.
BMC officials carry out repairs to the bridge which sunk two weeks ago.

Dhakne said, "The bridge was made by MHADA about nine years ago. We are inspecting it. People are being requested to take an alternative route while we get ready to close the bridge and commence work on it in the next few days. Either the MHADA or the BMC will repair it."
