A bomb threat message was on Wednesday found on Mahanagri Express train in Maharashtra following which the cops carried out thorough security checks, Central Railway officials said.

The security in trains, at major railway stations, airports and public places across the country has been beefed up after the Delhi Red Fort blast on November 10.

According to the officials, Central Railway’s Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel acted promptly on Wednesday morning after a bomb threat message was found inside a general coach of Train No. 22177, the Mahanagri Express.

The train arrived at Bhusawal station at 08:28 hrs on November 12, 2025, where the RPF, along with the Government Railway Police (GRP), local police, and intelligence teams, immediately carried out preventive and security measures. A joint inspection team, including dog squads and explosives experts, conducted a thorough check of the train, they said.

No suspicious object or person was found, and the threatening message was removed and the train was cleared and safely departed Bhusawal at 08:45 hrs, with RPF and GRP staff escorting it continuously to Burhanpur and Khandwa, said a statement.

"No further suspicious activity was reported during the journey," officials said.

Following the incident and ongoing nationwide security alerts, Central Railway has intensified security across all divisions. Key measures include maximum alert operations at all stations and operational areas, round-the-clock CCTV monitoring at major stations and control rooms, close coordination with local police and intelligence agencies for real-time updates, increased deployment of RPF, GRP, and anti-sabotage teams at platforms, yards, and vital installations, dog squads on standby for random checks and public announcements and awareness campaigns encouraging passengers to report any suspicious activity, officials said.

"A dedicated 24×7 War Room at all divisional headquarters to monitor train operations, CCTV networks, and passenger feedback," said an official.

Senior officials are closely supervising security arrangements to ensure strict adherence to safety directives, the official said.

Passengers have been urged to cooperate during checks and report unattended luggage or suspicious activity immediately. Central Railway assured the public that every precaution is being taken to maintain a safe and secure railway environment, the statement said.
