Bombay High Court: Consider regular inspection of water polluting industries

The bench passed its order after a PIL stated that the state supplied water for industrial and commercial use after the state faced a drought situation back in 2016

The Bombay High Court today asked the Maharashtra government to consider introducing a provision in its 2016 Government Resolution (GR) regarding regular inspection of industries discharging pollutants into water bodies in the state.

A division bench of Justices A S Oka and P N Deshmukh said the GR of April 21, 2016, provides for adequate machinery for taking steps against industrial agencies and companies discharging pollutants into water bodies or causing pollution of water sources.
