While Mumbai confirms 1,066 new cases and 22 deaths, state’s daily tally drops below 20,000 and new fatalities are at 402

Mumbai continued to record more than 1,000 Covid-19 cases for the second consecutive day. On Sunday, the city confirmed 1,066 new cases. At 4.3 per cent, the city also saw a rise in the test positivity rate (TPR) that was below 4 per cent for the past few days.

Mumbai on Sunday saw a fall in newly confirmed fatalities at 22. Among the 22 deceased patients, 18 had comorbidities, 15 were senior citizens and seven were aged between 40 years to 60 years.
According to the report of the BMC, a total of 24,548 tests were conducted across the city for novel Coronavirus and 1066 people were found to be infected with it, taking the TPR to 4.3 per cent. The TPR had jumped over 20 per cent in the first week of April and on Sunday, it was 3.91 per cent on Saturday.
Meanwhile, 1,327 patients recovered and were discharged on the same day in the city.

The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in the city increased to 94 per cent and the doubling rate also improved and was 414 days. As on Sunday, 27,322 patients were undergoing treatment in the city. There were 92,464 active cases in Mumbai on April 11.
Meanwhile, the state saw a fall in daily tally by registering fewer than 20,000 cases. Of the 18,600 additional confirmed Covid-19 patients, the Pune circle reported 4,817 cases, including 1,855 in Satara.
The state registered 402 more Covid-19 deaths, with the Kolhapur circle comprising the Konkan region reporting the highest fatalities at 125.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) reported 3,110 cases on Sunday. Thane recorded 147 cases, Navi Mumbai 114 and Kalyan-Dombivli 160. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, witnessed 16 deaths out of which nine each were reported in Raigad and Panvel, while Navi Mumbai registered three deaths.
A total of 22,532 patients were discharged across Maharashtra, and the number of active cases stood at 2.7 lakh on Sunday.
