Tainted former Thane jail superintendent Hiralal Jadhav has written to the CM, raising doubts on DIG (prisons) Swati Sathe's credibility. But, he has been complaining against her since 2012.
Misuse In 2013, he had filed a case in the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) against Sathe and other officials. Jadhav told mid-day, &ldquo;Sathe and other seniors were using the government prison bungalow as their residence, but then too, they were taking money for rent from the government. Also, they should keep only two to three constables for their personal security, but they kept eight to nine constables and used them for personal errands.&rdquo;
He also said that Sathe and a few seniors were running a private company to earn more profits, which later closed down. Referring to jailed Byculla prison officials, Jadhav asked how Sathe can support such criminals, who should be booked and proven guilty.

Previously suspended
Jadhav's present actions hint at revenge. He was suspended by the state home department in 2013, when he was the principal of the training centre in Taloja jail. He was suspended for misbehaving with women officers and trainees and using abusive language with new female recruits. Back then, Sathe had led an inquiry against him which later proved him guilty of the allegations.
Last year, Jadhav had also been thrown out of his official residence as Thane jail superintendent because he brought six to seven private vehicles in the bungalow premises, creating a ruckus. Another inquiry was initiated against him regarding the incident, where he was found guilty.
