Shantanu Gangal (22) is an inspiration for every student. Gangal, an IIT-Powai computer science student in his final year, scored 100 per cent in the Common Admission Test (CAT), the results of which were announced on Friday.

The Mumbai boy, however, couldn't attribute his success to a single factor. "I wouldn't eat for hours before the exam and stayed on chocolates to keep my energy levels up.

Apart from that, I increased my reading lists months before the exams to help in the reading-comprehension section.

I didn't have a fixed timetable. I just had a feeling that I'd do really well," Gangal told Mid DAY. His parents, who are doctors, are naturally over the moon.

Gangal, who joined a coaching institute to prepare for CAT only four months ago, said the next big hurdle is the group discussion and personal interviews at IIM-Ahmedabad where he hopes to go. "Nothing's in the bag yet. There's still a long way. And there's so much competition," added Gangal.
