Central Railway resumes services on Neral–Matheran route after monsoon's departure

Central Railway on Thursday announced that following the conclusion of the monsoon, the full-stretch services on the Neral-Matheran Narrow Guage line will be resuming effective November 4.

The Central Railway on Thursday announced that following the conclusion of the monsoon, the full-stretch services on the Neral-Matheran Narrow Guage line will be resuming effective November 4. The CR shared the updated timing of the services in a media statement. The services of the train were halted in monsoon following a derailment incident in June this year.


The CR in its statement said, "Following the departure of the monsoon season, the Central Railway has decided the opening of full stretch services on the Neral-Matheran NG line will resume with effect from November 4."


The mini train services will run daily, the CR said and train number 52103 will depart from Neral at 8.50 am and will arrive at Matheran at 11.30 am. Meanwhile, train number 52105 will depart Neral at 10.25 am and arrive at Matheran at 1.05 pm. 


Subsequently, the UP train numbers 52104 and 52106 will be departing from Matheran at 2.45 pm and 4 pm respectively. The trains will be arriving ar Neral at 5.30 pm and 6.40 pm. 

The Railways said that trains nos 52103/52104 will have six coaches including three second-class coaches, two second-class-cum-luggage vans and one Vistadome coach. 

Meanwhile, train numbers 52105/52106 will operate with a total of six coaches, comprising three second-class coaches, one first-class coach, and two second-class cum luggage vans.

The railways further issued Matheran to Aman Lodge shuttle services and the timings are: 

1. Train No. 52154: Departs Matheran at 08.20 hrs, Arrives at Aman Lodge at 08.38 hrs
2. Train No. 52156: Departs Matheran at 09.10 hrs, Arrives at Aman Lodge at 09.28 hrs
3. Train No. 52158: Departs Matheran at 11.35 hrs, Arrives at Aman Lodge at 11.53 hrs
4. Train No. 52160: Departs Matheran at 14.00 hrs, Arrives at Aman Lodge at 14.18 hrs
5. Train No. 52162: Departs Matheran at 15.15 hrs, Arrives at Aman Lodge at 15.33 hrs
6. Train No. 52164: Departs Matheran at 17.20 hrs, Arrives at Aman Lodge at 17.38 hrs

They also issued the timing of special services which will be operational on weekends and it is as follows: 

7. Special-2: Departs Matheran at 10.05 hrs, Arrives at Aman Lodge at 10.23 hrs
8. Special-4: Departs Matheran at 13.10 hrs, Arrives at Aman Lodge at 13.28 hrs

The timetable for shuttle services from Aman Lodge to Matheran will be:

1. Train No. 52153: Departs Aman Lodge at 08.45 hrs, Arrives at Matheran at 09.03 hrs
2. Train No. 52155: Departs Aman Lodge at 09.35 hrs, Arrives at Matheran at 09.53 hrs
3. Train No. 52157: Departs Aman Lodge at 12.00 hrs, Arrives at Matheran at 12.18 hrs
4. Train No. 52159: Departs Aman Lodge at 14.25 hrs, Arrives at Matheran at 14.43 hrs
5. Train No. 52161: Departs Aman Lodge at 15.40 hrs, Arrives at Matheran at 15.58 hrs
6. Train No. 52163: Departs Aman Lodge at 17.45 hrs, Arrives at Matheran at 18.03 hrs

On weekends, the services will be as follows: 

7. Special-1: Departs Aman Lodge at 10.30 hrs, Arrives at Matheran at 10.48 hrs
8. Special-3: Departs Aman Lodge at 13.35 hrs, Arrives at Matheran at 13.53 hrs

Railway said that all the shuttle services will operate with three second-class coaches, one first-class coach, and 2 second-class cum luggage vans.
