After a tug-of-war between the Shiv Sena and the BJP delayed the inauguration of a flyover at Jogeshwari, a group of citizens self-inaugurated it on Saturday. The controversy arose over whether Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray or CM Devendra Fadnavis would cut the ribbon.

&ldquo;Sometimes, you have to take charge and be the change. After hearing about the new Jogeshwari flyover. I decided to ride it but was disappointed that it hadn&rsquo;t been inaugurated yet. I removed the barriers and drove to the other side where a few boys helped me push aside another barrier. We self-inaugurated it. We don&rsquo;t need ministers. Happy Independence Day,&rdquo; said a Facebook post by Sampath K Iyengar, a resident of Jogeshwari.
Chief engineer, Bridges department, BMC, SO Kori, said, &ldquo;The flyover hasn&rsquo;t been officially inaugurated. We have asked for additional security now.&rdquo; The 2.25-km flyover connecting Jogeshwari East and West will connect SV Road to Western Express Highway.
