Though the mishap drew attention towards 58 bridges in the city that need urgent repairs, the work has not yet commenced. The committee will comprise a private contractor and senior officials from the road department. "In 2007, the Standing Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) had recommended us to appoint au00a0 chief engineer for bridges, but we failed to get experts," said a road department official. Based on the investigations, repair work will be charted. An official said, "It may take more than six months to appoint a contractor, carry out the investigation and take a decision on the repair work." Did you know?
