In a bid to end tie-ups between coaching classes and colleges, Maharashtra Coaching Classes Owners Association (MCCOA) is moving High Court with an affidavit against 43 colleges in the city that are allegedly providing such integrated programmes.
MCCOA said they are filing the affidavit in HC because the state school education department failed to take any action, despite being approached twice. "This week, we are filing an affidavit in HC against 43 colleges from Mumbai for illegally tying up with coaching classes to earn more money at the cost of the students' future. When these colleges integrate with coaching classes, it economically affects the functioning of other coaching classes that are not involved," said Narendra Bhambwani, vice president, MCCOA.
In May, state school education department de-recognised Namdar Shri Ajit Pawar College in Borivali west for taking offline admission of around 600 students and letting them give their practical exams in Makarand Group Tuitions, Kandivli through an integrated deal. However, MCCOA claims such rackets still continue to operate.
Bhambwani said, "An agreement has been made between private coaching classes and junior colleges, which allows students to attend coaching classes and come to college only at the time of practical exams. Coaching classes suggest students to take admission in their classes and select colleges that they have an agreement with. In this manner, classes gain a greater number of students and earn more benefits that they share with the college."
