The Maharashtra Congress on Tuesday alleged that the BJP-led Mahayuti government's farm loan waiver announcement lacks financial backing, claiming the scheme is misleading because the amount allocated in the supplementary budget falls well short of the total promised expenditure.

Speaking to reporters at the Vidhan Bhavan, Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar questioned how the government intends to fund the remaining amount after announcing a farm loan waiver package worth more than Rs 36,500 crore.
