<div>The Parksite police on Saturday arrested Vijay Sagar Kamble, general secretary, scheduled cast (SC) wing of Mumbai Regional Congress Committee for allegedly demanding sexual favours from a housewife in his neighbourhood.</div><div><br /></div><div>According to the cops, citing that the woman's husband had gone to Surat on a business trip, Kamble and three of his associates knocked on her door u00a0around 4 am on Thursday. When she didn't open the door, they tried again an hour later, but to no avail.u00a0</div><div><br /></div><div>When she opened the door at 6 am, as was her routine, Kamble who was waiting outside along with his accomplices grabbed the lady and allegedly demanded sexual favours from her. He even demanded Rs 20,000 as protection money if she refused to give in to his demands.</div><div><br /></div><div>"Initially, Kamble demanded sexual favours from the complainant, and then threatened to charge her Rs 20,000 per month to run her grocery shop if she turned down his advances," said a police official.u00a0Terrified, the complainant had initially approached Sudhir Singh, general secretary of Nationalist Congress Party (Mumbai), who in turn asked her to register an FIR against Kamble.u00a0"It was I who took the lady to the police station and requested the police to register an FIR against Kamble," said Singh.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Copspeak</b></div><div>"We have arrested Kamble under Sections 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 34 (crime committed by several persons) of the IPC. We are also on the lookout for his three accomplices," said Krishna Gaikwad, senior inspector, Parksite police station, Vikhroli.u00a0When contacted, Nizamuddin Rayeen, Mumbai Congress spokesperson, stating that he was busy at a function, asked the reporter to contact him later.</div>
