Cops nab man who killed wife

The Crime Branch unit 10 of Mumbai police has arrested a 25-year-old man for murdering his wife. He also has several criminal cases against him. The accused was wanted in several criminal cases like theft, dacoity, and looting a petrol pump on the highway. After he murdered his wife in August this year, he was on the run and the police were on the lookout for him.


The Crime Branch arrested Santosh Rajput from Saki Naka near D Mart mall on late Friday evening. Rajput was produced in the local court and remanded to police custody till December 4.The police have recovered one pistol and few live cartridges from Rajput.


The accused is a history-sheeter and has numerous cases against him at various police stations including VP Road and Pant Nagar. In August this year, he murdered his wife Divya. He murdered her in a fit of rage after he found out that she was having an affair with somebody else. He took her body to the ghats in Thane Rural district and dumped it there. He had been on the run since then and was on the police’s wanted list.


Officers of the crime branch unit 10 came to know that Rajput was to visit Saki Naka for some reason. In civil dress, the police officials laid a trap and arrested him. They are now trying to find out the number of cases registered against him.u00a0
