An unknown, unmanned lifeboat was seized by the Gamdevi Police near Tata Garden, Girgaum Chowpatty, after drifting close to the shore yesterday.

According to a police statement, the saffron-coloured boat, which had 'RAK-2 carrier' written on it was found with tanks, drinking water bottles and biscuits. The engine and fan of the boat was found near it.

The boat was handed over to the Yellowgate police station for further investigation and officials said nothing suspicious was found on it.

They confirmed that it was a lifeboat that is generally attached to larger vessels and said it could be the lifeboat used by the MV RAK crew to escape from the ship.
