A special women&rsquo;s court recently asked actor Inder Kumar to pay Rs 25,000 as the travelling cost to the woman who has accused him of raping her twice in 2014. This was slapped as a fine because the actor asked for adjournment in the rape case while the survivor travelled all the way from another state for the hearing.

mid-day had reported in April that the 25-year-old model, who had accused Kumar of raping her, had deposed at a special women&rsquo;s court. After recording her statement before the court, the defence was asked to cross examine the woman.
During its hearing last month, Kumar&rsquo;s advocate asked for adjournment saying they wanted a copy of the woman&rsquo;s statement recorded before the magistrate&rsquo;s court, and they wanted time to prepare on it.
Judge A S Shende had told them that she would give them the copy right away, and after reading it they could continue with cross examination as the woman was present.
According to a source present in the courtroom, Kumar&rsquo;s lawyer still requested for another date, and the judge then fined them Rs 25,000, as the woman had come from another state, and the money would be given to her as travel expenses. Kumar paid the fine.
The case The model had registered an FIR against Kumar, alleging that he had raped her twice in a period of three days by promising her lead roles in movies.
The charges filed against him were framed by the same court presided over by Special Judge Shende. Kumar is being tried under Sections 376 (rape), 342 (wrongful confinement), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506(ii) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
The model had in the past claimed that she had been assaulted and hit with a beer bottle and confined at Kumar&rsquo;s Andheri house for a night.
She had burn wounds on her body and she claimed the actor burnt her with cigarettes.
