COVID-19 cases fall to 2,438 in state, Mumbai sees 438 new patients

While Mumbai had been reporting less than four deaths a day in the first week of January, civic officials said the pandemic is in control in the city as fatalities are still in single digits.

The state recorded on Monday fewer coronavirus patients and deaths than earlier weeks. In the 24 hours up to the evening, Maharashtra saw 2,438 fresh infections and 40 deaths.

In Mumbai, the new cases dropped to 438, while the  COVID-19 claimed 9 lives in the 24-hour window.
