Covid-19 cases in Mumbai drop slightly, but tally rises in Maharashtra

After witnessing a significant drop in the test positivity rate (TPR) on Sunday, Mumbai’s TPR saw a jump for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. The TPR on Tuesday was 1.06%.  On August 19, the city recorded the second wave’s lowest TPR at 0.53% after which the graph has been gradually going up.  

The city also saw a marginal dip in new cases as there was only one Covid-19 fatality. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, on Tuesday, the city saw 323 cases.   It was on August 16 that the numbers fell below 200 and recorded the second wave’s lowest daily cases. On April 11, 2020, the city recorded 189 cases after which the graph went up.
