Beneficiaries wait outside V N Desai Municipal General Hospital on Tuesday

Just a day after a record number of beneficiaries were vaccinated on Monday, as claimed by the BMC, several citizens who arrived at V N Desai hospital in Santacruz on Tuesday morning were turned away due to limited stock of COVID-19 doses.

The pictures showing dejected beneficiaries outside the gate of V N Desai Municipal General Hospital went viral on social media platforms. Hundreds had gathered at the centre for their doses, but tokens were issued to just 200-odd people initially. Still, several citizens decided to wait at the gate on learning that the hospital will get a fresh stock of vaccines in the afternoon, but it never came.
