COVID-19: Mumbai's daily deaths drop; Maharashtra's cases rise to 60,000+

The city’s daily COVID-19 infections, which dropped to 3,876 on Monday, rose again on Tuesday with civic officials confirming 4,014 new cases. However, there was a dip in new casualties at 59. Also, 8,240 patients recovered and were discharged in a single day.
The situation in the state, however, remained worrisome. State health department registered 66,358 new cases on Tuesday and 895 fatalities, the highest death toll in Maharashtra since the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus last year. The state had confirmed 48,700 cases on Monday. Tuesday’s cases were the lowest since March 23. The city’s daily tally has remained on the lower side since seeing the highest spike of 11,163 cases on April 4. The number of active cases has reduced in the city, and about 66,000 patients are currently undergoing treatment.
