Cases in the city have been rising since Wednesday when it recorded 558 cases. Thursday saw 510 cases.

More than 600 cases were reported in the city last on January 14. They had been on the decline until Wednesday. Last week, cases reached below 450.

There were 16,715 tests conducted and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) remained at 3.6 per cent on Friday. On Wednesday and Thursday, it was 3.5 per cent and 3.1 per cent respectively.

In MMR, including Mumbai, the number of new cases is 1,016. Other cities in the region reported less than 100 cases but the numbers are higher than what they were last week with Kalyan-Dombivli having 82, Thane having 81 and Navi Mumbai having 97 cases.

Of the four deaths in the city, three people had co-morbidities. Two patients were above the age of 60, one patient was below 40 years and one patient was between 40 to 60 years.

Meanwhile, 612 patients recovered and there are 5,296 active patients in the city. The doubling rate of the city has worsened further to 525 days after reaching 565 on Monday.

The state recorded 3,670 new COVID patients, with Amravati having 331 and Nagpur 392, a sharp increase for both. In earlier weeks, the deaths were down to zero in most districts.

While the number of deaths was restricted to 36, it has been reported in every circle of districts.

Five deaths were registered in MMR (excluding Mumbai), five in Akola and four each in Kolhapur, Pune and Latur.

The cumulative number of cases in the state is 20.56 lakh and the recovery rate of the state has increased to 95.9 per cent. Only 2,422 patients recovered and active patients are 31,000, out of which, 8,000 are in MMR.
