Covid-19: Mumbai sees sharp rise in TPR; cases go up too

It was on August 16 that the city’s daily cases fell below 200 and it recorded the second wave’s lowest daily figure.

After witnessing a marginal dip in the test positivity rate (TPR) on Wednesday, Mumbai saw a sharp increase on Thursday at 1.18 per cent. The number of new Covid-19 infections also went up, and the city recorded 441 cases.

Gradual rise

Mumbai’s TPR had dipped below 1 per cent for the first time in the second wave on July 29. On August 19, the city recorded the second wave’s lowest TPR at 0.53 per cent after which the graph has seen a gradual increase. The city also saw a marginal rise in new cases on Thursday.
